My name is Amy and I live in Nashville, TN.

I bought my condo 7 1/2 years ago and little by little

have made it a home for my daughter and I.

Come on in... let the tour begin!

Let's start at the front door.

First we have the foyer with the coat closet on

the left and the kitchen on the right.

I hung a clear shoe storage rack on the back of the door, that I got at

the Dollar Tree, to organize all of those little items.

Off the foyer, we have the kitchen. I painted the yucky wood cabinets

cream and painted the top doors with chalk board paint to give a little interest.

I tiled the backsplash all by myself...the first big DIY project after moving in.

I have also replaced all of the appliances.

Past the foyer is the living/ dining room.

My brother-in-law made my benches for the dining room table.

I love my Pier 1 capiz chandelier.

The sparkly mirror was a garbage-on-the-curb find that I

painted with glue and Martha Stewart silver glitter.

The hallway to the right leads to the bedrooms and hall bathroom.

The door on the right is my daughters bedroom

and the her bathroom is straight ahead.

We recently got rid of her loft bed and are planning to

build a Pottery Barn-inspired storage bed frame this summer.

To the right of my daughter's bathroom is the short hall to my bedroom.

Past this hall shelf, with a few DYI projects, is my room.

My headboard was my latest DIY project,

thanks to plans from Ana White's blog.

The door above leads to my bathroom.

My brother made me this jewelry tree.

I have too many necklaces...wait...you can't have too many necklaces!!

Pistachio Ice Cream Cake

This past week, we had a Wedding Shower for a fellow Kindergarten teacher. We were asked to bring a dish to share and I reached for my all-time favorite...Pistachio Ice Cream Cake.

(Sorry for bad lighting...kitchen light is not the best!)

What you will need:

Crust: 40 Ritz crackers (crushed)

1 stick of butter (melted)

--melt butter and mix with cracker crumbs

--coat bottom of a 9x12 pan to form crust

Mix in a separate bowl:
--2 boxes pistachio pudding
--1 1/2 cup milk
--1 quart softened vanilla ice cream
--1/2 container of Cool Whip (save other 1/2 for topping)

Spread mixture over cracker crust.

Put in freeze to set for roughly 10 minutes and then top with other 1/2 of Cool Whip.

Now, ENJOY!!

Barn Board Shelf

A few weeks ago, my mom and I got a stack of barn board for really, really cheap (thanks to my good friend Erin!). We have been brainstorming ideas on what we can do with all this wood.

I love the different widths and faded colors!

Our first project was a long shelf for my parents main-floor family room. We started by lining up a few boards that were the width that we wanted for the shelf.

My parents found these unfinished shelf brackets at Lowe's. They wanted a more distressed look to go with the weathered wood so I rubbed on some black paint and sanded the edges.



We had just recently painted this end of the room a mossy-green color. The picture below is the closest to the true color of the walls. We took down the pictures that were hanging there and hung the brackets and shelf above the TV.

This is where we get so excited about how good it looks that

we forget to take pictures until it is finished and styled!!!

By the time it was finished, it was late and I wish I would have taken a shot of this wall from across the whole room (this is the far side of an open kitchen/ breakfast/ family room).

We love how versitale it is and have lots of ideas on how to change it and even make it seasonal.
